Celebrating Jessica’s Excellence: Making a Difference Every Day

Meet Circle of Care’s Champion of the Year, Jessica C., who has been an integral member of our service coordination team for over six years. This prestigious award is given annually to a person who best demonstrates qualities of collaboration, innovation, person-centered care, equity, excellence, and accountability in their work.

Heartwarming Recognition

Jessica’s nomination for the Champion of the Year Award came as no surprise to those who know her best. Her dedication to quality, support, and improvement is highlighted in her day-to-day work efforts as she coordinates home care visits for clients and ensures that both home care workers and those receiving care are supported. As part of the nomination, her colleagues and clients had many words of praise, highlighting her impact on their lives and on Circle of Care.

Ricky, a member of the same team, recalls how a self-motivated learning action led Jessica to suggest process improvements for her whole team. Specifically, Jessica self-identified that her knowledge of Interval Care was limited, and thus, took the initiative to reach out to her colleague, Terri, to request support. Following this experience, Jessica recommended that her team set up Zoom meetings on the weekend throughout the duration of their shift to promote communication, teamwork and peer-to-peer learning. This idea was widely endorsed by her fellow co-workers and supervisors, who felt service coordinators and call center representatives could greatly benefit from this process improvement. Since implementing weekend team Zoom meetings six months ago, staff have identified that they are able to communicate with peers more efficiently, resolve issues faster, and feel more supported.

According to her colleagues, Jessica is also always there to provide assistance in critical moments, leading to overall organizational improvements in communication and coordination between the OPS teams.

“I would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to Jessica,” says Sheree, a Service Coordinator at Circle of Care. “Thank you so much for your willingness to help find PSW staff for our client. This is a clear example of what teamwork is all about. Words can’t express how grateful I am for your dedication.”

Another coworker, Shayestheh, states that Jessica is a “simply amazing colleague” who stands out for her kindness and “friendly communications.”

Jessica’s ability to bring smiles and support to those she interacts with underscores her invaluable contribution to Circle of Care.

“I enjoy putting a smile on the client’s face when I call them, just being an ear for them, making sure they get what they need,” says Jessica.

That’s why another colleague, Bianca, reports that clients call in with compliments for Jessica, calling her an “amazing employee.”.

Jessica’s Extraordinary Contributions Earn Her Champion of the Year Award

In June 2024, Jessica received the Champion of the Year Award through our Champions of Care program. This award is given to someone for embodying all of Circle of Care’s values in their work each day.

Upon receiving the award, Jessica felt a deep gratitude toward everyone around her. “I feel appreciated and honoured that everyone nominated me,” she shared. “It’s a validation that my hard work pays off.”

Looking forward, her positive impact will undoubtedly continue to touch people’s lives and inspire others around her.
