Circle of Care is proud to host many students over the summer to help them expand their knowledge in certain fields. As the sun sets on another remarkable season, we asked our students to share their perspectives on what it was like working with us.
“My time at Circle of Care has been extremely valuable in my professional development. With limited previous experience in the technology field outside of academic settings, Circle of Care has provided me with unparalleled learning opportunities.
Engaging in a genuine corporate IT environment has proven to be an invaluable experience for an impending graduate, and I am grateful for the chance to have done so at Circle of Care. I also greatly appreciated the friendly and supportive atmosphere within the organization. The absence of overwhelming pressure and the willingness of my colleagues, especially my manager, to facilitate my learning and growth really enhanced my experience.
My time at Circle of Care has been an ideal preparation as I approach graduation. Thank you, Circle of Care, for the amazing opportunity!”

“This is my second summer working as a Client Services Student at Circle of Care. I worked closely with the Professional Practice Lead, Muna, whose guidance and encouragement played a crucial role in shaping my experience this summer. It was also inspiring to see how involved and hands-on the management team is, particularly Jennifer and Adeela, who consistently offer support and guidance, ensuring the entire Client Services team is well-supported.
My favourite experience this summer has been attending the in-person team meetings for the Client Services team. I enjoyed seeing the team work through problems and issues, considering all the different perspectives and collaboratively finding solutions that best serve our clients. These meetings highlighted the team’s dedication to providing exceptional client-centred care and the value of open communication and teamwork. Attending these meetings helped me understand the complexities involved in client care and the importance of home care services to support the needs of our aging population.
I am grateful for my experiences these past two summers and look forward to using the knowledge I have gained. I want to thank the entire Client Services team for making my experience at Circle of Care so positive, especially Muna, who went above and beyond to provide guidance, mentorship, and support throughout my time here!”

“My position this summer was in the Hospice and Bereavement Program. I have had the immense privilege of working with and learning from two recently graduated social workers and our phenomenal Hospice Case Manager, Charlotte. This team consists of the most welcoming, supportive, encouraging and uplifting colleagues I have ever worked with.
I have had the opportunity to co-facilitate a Bereavement Support Group for adults grieving a death, providing 1-1 bereavement support, as well as social and emotional support to clients with a life-limiting illness. As I result, I developed skills in counselling, intake and group work. I have seen the deep value of grief and trauma-informed support, which provides connection for adults who are often isolated, giving them a safe and judgement-free space to explore their grief. I am so proud to have been a part of such a meaningful program and feel grateful for having had the opportunity to acquire new learnings to take with me on my own social work journey.”

“During my time as a HR Co-op student at Circle of Care, I had the opportunity to work with a supportive and knowledgeable team who each took turns mentoring me. This allowed me to take on various tasks and responsibilities, gaining hands-on experience in both union and non-union recruitment processes. I’m particularly thankful to my supervisor, Deep, and the entire HR recruitment team for their guidance and encouragement. Their willingness to share their knowledge and provide constructive feedback was very instrumental in my growth and renewed my sense of confidence.
One of the key highlights of my co-op was seeing the successful placement of candidates I had reviewed resumes and provided onboarding for. This was incredibly rewarding and reinforced my passion for HR. Overall, this experience has not only helped to advance my professional skills but also fostered a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm for my career in HR.”

“I have been with Circle of Care for 8 months, working in the Learning and Development department. I started as a co-op student and then got hired on as a summer student. I have had a great time working here and have learned a lot. The atmosphere has always been positive. Everyone is always so welcoming and encourages you to do your best and push yourself towards success.
My team and I have had some great memories together such as group projects, lunches, activities and non-stop dancing at the 50th year milestone party! I will miss my team and others who I have encountered around the office. Thank you Circle of Care for an amazing 8 months!”

“My summer at Circle of Care has been an incredible journey. I have had the chance to work with the Human Resources team, focusing on Health, Safety, and Wellness. From the start, everyone made me feel welcome, and I’m especially thankful to my manager, Kai, Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist, for her support and mentorship.
This experience has truly pushed me to grow, both professionally and personally. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone in ways I never expected, which has been both challenging and rewarding. One of my favorite moments was the summer student lunch. Hearing our VP, Dara, talk about her career journey and share her valuable insights was inspiring and something I’ll definitely carry with me as I progress in my career. I also had the chance to attend professional development sessions organized by the Learning & Development team, where I learned new skills like effective communication and problem-solving.
I’m also grateful for the opportunities I had to contribute to various projects. These experiences have been incredibly valuable and have given me a real sense of accomplishment. Overall, the skills and experiences I’ve gained at Circle of Care are something I’ll cherish. But more than anything, I am grateful to have worked alongside such amazing people who made this journey truly memorable.”

“I am incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work as a Fundraising Summer Student at Circle of Care. It was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I started, I was welcomed into a supportive team dedicated to making a difference in the community.
Under the expert guidance of Josi, Community Engagement & Growth Director, I have learned the fundamentals of fundraising, donor communications, and have had hands-on experiences with event planning and execution. Josi, along with other staff members, has provided me with tools and knowledge to succeed, while also encouraging me to be confident in myself.
It was a privilege to complete my student internship at an organization that truly cares about the employee experience, and strives to make a positive impact on people’s lives. As an individual with a passion for creative writing and philanthropy, this was absolutely the right role for me.”
